Hallowe'en 2015

we had a jam-packed holiday weekend, working the ranch's Haunted "Down the Rabbit Hole" House on Friday...

I asked K over the weekend if she ever wished our house around halloween was a little calmer, and we just went out and bought costumes. i got a resounding "no!". so glad they both share my love for this holiday. they helped design and prepare the ranch, and last night's costumes. K was very particular about her costume and how she put it together. (shout out to D for his skills with fabric paint and a glue gun!) and E did all her own make-up both nights.

hope all had a safe - and fun! - Hallowe'en. and hello November!

room to grow :: KJG

room to grow :: KJG

K's room is a bit less of an undertaking, in comparison to E's. she will be keeping the bunkbed and dresser (that were once shared by d and his brother!)while swapping out the shelves for something with a smaller footprint and having some fun with bedding and accessories. she still loves to play with her barn and horses - and we want the shelves to hold her growing collection, as well as her library. right now, a study spot isn't important for her - as she is still happy to do homework with me in the kitchen. the shelving will be able to accommodate a real work station at a future date.

room to grow :: ecg

we have come to the conclusion that it is time for the girls to have separate rooms. k & e are now 9 and 12 respectively, and while they could still easily sleep in the same room, their tastes and interests are starting to diverge and it feels right to offer them each their own space. we are lucky in this little 3 bedroom home to have the extra space in the modern shed out back. it will become the primary home office, as well as my work space, as we are prepping to move e into the old home office.

she has definite ideas about what she wants ("just a normal room!") and d and i veer a little more on the mid-century modern side of things. she's a not quite a girly-girl but loves fashion, her friends, 1D and plans to live in paris someday. i wanted pieces she could keep for a long time - possibly on to her own place (sans considering overseas shipping!). d has done lots of built-ins in the room already, so a dresser doesn't look necessary. here is what we have come up with so far...

room-to-grow---ecg

one modcloth bonjour pillow cases
two unknown geodesic hanging light (help!)
three strut table in watermelon by bludot
four land of nod jenny lind double bed in black
five inspiration board inspiration from a beautiful mess
six map of paris by bodie and fou (sadly looking like its no longer available) this is the back-up idea.
seven tas-ka duvet cover

(and yes i am all fancy hot-pants photoshop over here. playing around. let's see where it goes. this is the first post back here dealing with house bits that we'd moved over to jumilla productions. it feels a little odd - but as we phase out that page, i hope you'll find our house"work" interesting as well.)

next up kjg's space (and lots more inspiration on pinterest.)

we had a wonderful weekend. the weather has been amazing. instead of heading to the beach - which is what my heart wanted - we checked some major items off "the list" - which is what my head needed. it feels good. and there is a new momentum in the house!

follow it here.
