Progressive Dinner ::10::

how on earth have we celebrated together 10 times?

and how this event has grown!

we gathered together last night - neighbors - for our yearly Progressive Dinner. Robyn and I are hanging up our organizers' hats after this one - with the hope that others will carry on the tradition. (and from all indications, they will.) it is such a lovely event - with multiple generations, backgrounds, views. but as it has grown, it has become much more work. time for some fresh eyes and ideas.

but in the meantime, about last night...

in the 'hood

I was thrilled to be asked to photograph The Museum of the San Fernando Valley's Palmer and Krisel Home Tour. it was a treat visiting homes I already know so well. (and a cherry on top was bringing E along as my assistant.)

it was a great day. replete with a very cool coffee truck ("courtesy of the pink house"), a selection of classic cars, and our streets swarming with very well dressed mid-century modern loving participants. not to mention our fabulous neighbors showing off their fabulous homes!















a fundraiser for the newly formed San Fernando Valley Conservancy, the evening ended with a VIP reception at Neutra's Baldwin House, just around the corner from us. a beautiful end to a beautiful day.

weekend to do

tonight we hopped on the 101 to an intimate show by letts - featuring paintings by our friend der baca

tomorrow i'm meeting my bestest oldest L.A. friend for brunch at Love & Salt. then D and I are meeting friends to try our hand at escaperoom L.A. (The Alchemist) and then grabbing a late dinner at The Black Sheep. (I love downtown L.A.!)

and john and I will sneak a visit to tomatomania in there too!

last time.

a visit with Bella

yesterday K left her job at the barn to have a private training session with Bella, and her owner (and my dear friend) John.

Bella is a beautiful, young Irish Draught that John purchased at an early age. she is currently boarding not to far from our home, and it has been a treat to watch her grow up. (she is about 2 1/2 now)

John led K through some training exercises and then let her to to work with Bella. K had so much fun. she really is a natural at this. it is amazing to me how an 80 lb girl can manage an 1000 lb animal without fear. John explained to me that it is all about posture, and confidence. this kid has both.















* please note that the whip does not touch the animal. in fact it is kept at quite a distance, and is used simply as an extension of the arm.
