reeling off the election e and i packed our bags for a long weekend at catalina island's toyon bay with her 6th grade class. it was a perfect ending to a crazy few weeks. (k and d had a marvelous daddy daughter weekend full of fun!) while we came home exhausted, it was such a wonderful experience. the kids challenged themselves to try new things - snorkeling in 20 ft depths, hiking steep mountain trails and taking on lots of responsibilities for the day-to-day chores. they strengthened bonds and made new friends. i was very proud of e. and happy to get to know her classmates a little better.
we left L.A. on a gloomy damp morning and made our way to paradise...
i feel so lucky to have such amazing resources so close to home (an hour ride to the ferry in long beach and then another 2 hours boat ride.) CIMI provided a wealth of outdoor experiences, alongside rich hands-on lab work. it was great enrichment for the kids - and for me as well. i can't wait to go again with k!
