::

thanks for all your support and understanding.

flickr has apparently closed down the perpetrator's account. thank you flickr.

for those of you asking, i was made aware of this by another flickr user - a professional portrait photographer specializing in kid and family portraits - who noticed a lot of pics being "favourited" by this particular user. on further investigation it was found that hundreds of photos of young girls had been favourited by this user, and looking at them it was clear that the intention was not a good one. (most were of young girls at the beach.) the photo of one my girls was among them.

i highly recommend you to make all photos of your children open to friends and family only. and to check into any being "favourited" by someone you don't know. because you just don't know.

i am going to close things down here for a while. this has all really thrown me off. not sure what i want to do. i know you will understand. thanks again.

This makes me so sad, your blog is one I check daily for inspiration. We all understand and want you take all the time you need.

So sorry this all happened, and totally understand the need to regroup.
And very glad flickr acted responsibly.
It just makes me so... angry.
sigh.

i am really sorry that this happened. as soon as i read your last post, i went through my photos, made all the ones of the girls private, checked and changed the status of my contacts. thank you for the heads up, tracy. hugs to you.

Hi Tracy,

I am so sorry that this happened to you! You have such a lovely family! I have always felt that you are one of my favorite local blogs. Take care and I hope that awful feeling in the gut and heart passes. I am too very protective of my little one by making sure all the photos private. I have been surprised that every once in awhile one is missed after so many precautions. Thanks for pointing out the "favorite" feature.

So sorry for you Tracy - what a sick world - I just hope you'll come back and not let the sickos interfere to much with your living.
I know I'll be more aware, so thank you for sharing.
Many hugs ;o)

Sorry to hear that - it makes my skin crawl - I have probably too many pics of my own kids up come to think of it. I will take your advice I think.

Ugh! I'm so disheartened to hear this. Maybe I need to rethink putting up picks of my babe as well.
The idea of some sicko spending time doing this is so foreign to me that I just don't think about it happening, but obviously it does.
I'm so sorry it has happened to one of the very nicest people in the blogosphere. We'll be here if and when you come back. Blessings and GOOD things to you and your sweet family.

This is my first time visiting your blog, but I felt I had to comment since something similar happened to me at Flickr. Some weirdo favorited a picture of my then-4 month old, wearing nothing but a cloth diaper. When I went to his site, it was nothing but himself and teddy bears wearing diapers. I immediately blocked him and made every single one of my photos private. I think that's great advice, no matter what. You just never know who is looking at, saving, or even printing your photos. It took me awhile before I posted pictures again, but lucky, with my blogging host (diaryland), you have the option of making your blog password protected. The internet can be so scary! I'm sorry this happened to you, and I hope you feel better soon!

just catching up here...as you know i've been through this. i know the feeling all too well. :( i've given this issue a lot of thought...but i don't have any simple answers. if you want to chat about it via email or on the phone, do let me know. hugs.

That's awful. I'm sorry, and do appreciate your letting us know. A similar issue had already taken some of the fun out of blogging for me; this really is awful. I'll have to make some Flickr changes as well. Hope you are able to regroup and enjoy your family in peace. Take care.

oh this is so sad (and really unfortunate)
I guess I will have to be more selective about which photos I show of lulu..such a shame.
will miss you, and I hope you will be back soon.

thanks so much tracy, when i went in to look at some of my flickr photos, i did have some that stuck out with way more hits than others (all bathing suit shots!) so i deleted the right away. nothing weird with favorites, thank god. i am still sorta new to all this and forget to be more cautious, it really sucks that such sweet and innocent photos can be twisted into such sickness. it really is scary! xo

tracy, I'm so sorry this all happened. It makes my stomach go in knots just thinking about it. I think I'll spend a little time going back through my flickr photos today.
Hope you'll be back with us soon. but take care of you first!

I am so glad to hear that Flickr closed down the perp's account. While I don't have children, I have had some rather pervy responses to photos of myself - that's upsetting enough, and I'm glad to know that Flickr will take action if things get out of hand.
