first day jitters

we are slowly, leisurely, squeezing, the last drops out of this weekend. the last day before the big bug enters the school system. kindergarten.

an "art opening" in celebration of last day at preschool.

a picnic at our community garden plot

a day at the beach and visit with friends

trying to breath slowly. i alternate between panic and glee. i really didn't think i would feel so emotional. but she all of a sudden seems so grown up, yet so young.

i am so thankful that my mom is in town to hold my hand as i hold her's and we venture off tomorrow morning on a new adventure.

i think i'll follow another's lead and take the week off. i feel some reflection, reassessment and reorganization are in order.

for all of you heading back-to-school - and especially those facing first days - enjoy - new beginnings / new adventures...

as the little bug is so fond of saying - "off. we. go!"

I hope this went well this morning! I'm glad you had your mom around for this.

I'm sure the Big Bug will have lots of stories to tell when she gets home!

Hope her day and yours are mostly wonderful and only a little bit sad. You're baby is growing up!

Thinking of you both. xo

My Big Bugs first day (16 years ago) I took her to school that morning after going over and over with her what the procedure was for after school (she was to take the bus to the JCC). As we got closer to the K-gate (for kindergarden only) she dropped my hand and took off into the yard and never looked back. I went to her teacher and said hello she asked where my child was and I said out there pointing to the play yard and the teacher said good by and off I went not sure if I should be relieved or worried that she never looked back. That afternoon my mom and I sat outside the school in the car and watched as the bell rang she lined up got on the bus and never missed a beat. Getting to school or home from school was never an issue never a missed bus from that point forward. So cherish the day and the good bye....cause it will move so much faster from this point forward.
