sunshine and rain

inspiration
glasses

feeling oh so inspired by a very sunshine-y and very generous stash of fabric and trim from lisa. (you are my superhero!) can't wait to see her show down in venice. i already have a selection pulled and have started in on a log cabin pillow (in homage) based on the tutorial found here. it's rainy and cooler and i feel very much like playing with my new machine. (yes halloween costumes are on the pile too!)

and i finally broke down and bought some shinzi katoh glasses. i had been on a thrift hunt for juice glasses for the girls - to replace their plastic ikea ones - and just couldn't find any. not quite true. i couldn't find any they would fight over. which may sound counter intuitive but, for some reason, k is very attached to the colourful plastic in our cupboard and i felt a need to go heavy on the cute quotient to draw her away from the "dark side".

it worked. they fight over them. though e prefers the animals and k the bubble girl.

there is another with a donkey that i am soft on. half filled with a good cabernet. a rainy night. my new fabric stash. and my sewing machine.

perfect.

happy wednesday!

What a perfect evening and wonderful treats...

If I don't get to meet you before hand, i will see you at this Lisa's show for sure - no excuses for lateness as my house is two blocks away from Firefly.

Those cups are adorable!! Did you order them from that site you linked to, or do you have another source? I'd love to get a couple for my 7yo daughter. Thanks!

i know just what you mean - a few years ago we got rid of our ikea plastic cups - my kids used to fight over the green one. we replaced them with old nutella jars (the kind from europe that turn into juice glasses) and now they fight over those. so much better!

A good pal has a collection of shinzi mugs that I drool over with regularity - too cute.

briana - it's a "date"!

kate - i did order from the site. a moment of weakness perhaps - but they arrived perfectly...

emily - i was on a hunt for old welch's jelly jars - but couldn't find any. should have thought of nutella - great great idea!

jan - is it easy to find in van?

There is one store that carries the line, I haven't actually been (too dangerous) so I don't know how extensive the collection is, but I can get the details if you would like in case you pass through Van on your next island adventure!

if your fabric stash is anything at all like the one lisa sent to me, it totally reinvigorated my desire to sew. Just what I needed. And I love those glasses! xo
